TPSL Levels

The Center for Teacher Preparation offers all three years of TPSL preparation (Foundational, Intermediate, and Proficient). Participants will indicate on their registration form which level of preparation they are requesting to complete.

Foundational Level: Candidates view online modules consisting of research based content and core readings. Candidates participate in a multitude of quizzes and real-world scenarios in which they make decisions and receive feedback on those decisions. The Foundational Level TPSL Permit is valid for one calendar year.

Intermediate Level: The Intermediate Level of TPSL is taken once a candidate's Foundational Permit is nearing expiration. Candidates build on previous learning through practical application assignments consisting of case studies, lesson planning opportunities, backward design implementation, article reflections and more. The practical application assignments are designed to assist candidates in applying what they learned from the foundational level to their own setting. Candidates are assigned an Instructional Facilitator who guides and supports them throughout the program. The Intermediate Level TPSL Permit is valid for one calendar year.
